Hi Carol, A couple years ago I purchased a pattern, which included carbon paper. Purchased from Home Depot. I traced a 5 ft. snowman on to plywood. I used a circular saw to cut it out. Then I used a few different colors of outdoor paint to paint the snowman, including his face, hat, scarf, etc. When paint was dry I sealed it. I was surprised that it came out better than expected. My husband drilled holes in the snowman so that we could secure it to our front fence every year with zip ties.

Weather proof to last through one season, or are you wanting to put them in storage and take them out again to be used consecutive years?

Hi Carol, I just watched this lovely video that shows you how to make giant, light-filled candy canes. Maybe it's something you can do too - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XfxMWGkPKU. There are also quite a few tutorials on hometalk that may inspire you. You'll find them all here - https://www.hometalk.com/search/all?filter=christmas%20decorations
