Should I extend the hardwood floor into the kitchen?

Hi, there's no rules that say you must use hardwood throughout the house. If you want to use ceramic, however, be aware that the the threshold will be a slight drop due to the height of the ceramic and mastic . Sometimes that can be a tripping problem. Good luck.

We did the same thing to our kitchen and dining room .We did hardwood in the dining area and a different materal for the kitchen

Hi there, Lay a hardwood threshold across the opening and change the floor to something suitable . The threshold does the job every time....I use it at every doorway where ever I live because, not only does it make it easier to change surfaces from room to room, but it also saves me money because I save on the flooring costs (think about it) If you go into door openings you pay for a strip of flooring that will only be wasted.

The most cohesive look would be to install the wood into the kitchen. It will make your home look larger overall because the eye stops at any change in the flooring. But, of course, it is totally your preference.
