Just moved from larger, less expensive place. Dog isn't used to passersby and need something within how guidelines to block some of view and noise on a budget.

Collect pallets and make a fence out of them

Sorry, but I don't have a good answer for you. Your dog may eventually adjust to passersby but it is in their nature to bark and warn you when people are so near...even if you block the sight, they still know because of sound and scent.

Hello! I had a similar problem with an eyesore of a fence and lots of passerbys. Believe it or not, I ended up using curtains! Yep, shower curtains worked the best for me. You can get some pretty cheap ones online and create your own landscape even. I used 6 plastic shower curtains along the road side of my yard with jungle like greenery all over them. On the quiet side, I used several different mountain views. All in all, it cost me about $50 and I just love that I can visit the mountains or the rainforest with my morning coffee! I imagine you might be able to get some blackout curtains or heavy duty tarp to put under them to help with more of a noise barrier for the dog. Good luck and I hope this gave you some ideas.

I'm leaning towards helping your dog. Is it out there all the time? If so the dog needs to get used to it. Is there any way that you can walk it outside the fence, let it see what's "out there". The Dog Whisperer website have techniques on how to have a calm happy dog.

No. He only goes out to potty. We have been outside the fence. Just isnt accustomed to passersby yet.

I don't know about blocking some of the noise. However, you could plant Mammoth Sunflowers around your fence line to help.

We have Boston Ivy planted on a fence on our property line. It grows fast and blocks the fence and would muffle sound somewhat too. Plus it looks pretty and gives movement

Hi! I was afraid staples would rust and or tear the curtain if it got windy, so I used screw in hooks. I measured the distance between the holes in the top of the curtains, and screwed the hooks into the slats of the fence, near the top. They seemed to match up really easy, and I made sure to have hooks for the last holes each side. (Make sure that the curtain is stretched how you want it, so you don't have folds and gaps.) I made sure the curtains reached about 2 inches above the ground, so that the weed whacker wouldn't tear them up on the bottom. I tried using Velcro tabs to hold the bottom two corners down, but the Velcro wouldn't stay on the fence, so I left the tab on the bottom of the curtain, and then stapled through the tab to the fence, and it gave enough support so the curtain wouldn't tear. I wish I could take a picture for you, but I don't live there anymore. I hope this helps!

Keep checking the clearance section at Lowes and plant some shrubbery along the fence line. Maybe a hole cut out would let him see what is going on? I have someone in my neighborhood that did that.

Before you go making changes to your yard (or house, for that matter), you should check with the local codes and see what is allowed. There may be a reason the fence isn’t any taller!

As far as privacy for you, what about one of those nice umbrellas that spread out wide? They are going on sale now too. Maybe the whole dining set! 😁

Sometimes the homeowner might agree to some changes, but it has to go thru the HOA. Like 6-8’ bamboo reed fencing tacked on to the fence. Great from your side, have to see what they think 🤔

I know of someone who made a double fence and inbetween put insulation. That person got hold of insulation used in cars! Styrofoam would be easy.they did a beautiful stain on the wood outside & inside! It was beautiful!!!
