Bob, we had an orchid given to us that had stopped blooming. Actually, it started to bud again, but on the transport home the stem got broken. It looked sad, but my daughter wouldn't give up on it. Then it started to bud again! It was about to bloom and another accident happened and the new stem got broken again! I thought it was done, but it had become personal now so we kept it. After a few weeks, it started to grow new buds. This time we were careful not to break it. Well once it bloomed it wouldn't stop! It bloomed three times in a row!

I think your orchid is fine. You may just want to cut the long stem down near the leaves.

Keep it, when the stem completely dies cut it back. it will grow and bloom. Mine is 5 years old and is still blooming

Make sure you don’t overwater. 3-4 I’ve cubes a week are perfect.

That’s. Phaelonopsis (moth) orchid commonly sold as a houseplant. If a blooming stem has fully turned brown, you can trim it off; sometimes a green “spike” will set bids again. Moth orchids like filtered light and higher humidity, so set the plant on a tray with pebbles and enough water to keep the pebbles wet in a window with some curtains. Water with a eel orchid fertilizer dissolved twice a week when bids are set; slip the fertilizer in the water after the flowers all drop. Mine would bloom twice a year.

Sheesh, typos! SKIP the word EEL, lol! However, if you have a fish tank, save the water when you clean it out and use that to water your orchids.
