I saved all these roses from my son’s funeral and want to do something to keep them from disintergratiby. They were red, but I don’t care what color, I just want to save them. Thank you.

If you have a china cabinet that closed with glass doors, put them in a container and keep them in that cabinet.

You can paint them, but hold the can quite a way away from the roses and do short sprays to keep from "blowing" the flowers apart.

I kept the flowers from each of my Grandparents funeral and bought a lamp base that you could fill up. That way, they are protected and I have them displayed at the same time.

Thank you Dana. I also have a large zip loc bag with all the pedals from other flowers and wanted to make a sachet, but didn’t know what kind of oil I would put in to get a scent.

    Use. Food colouring first

  • If you chose to do a spray paint to color them, just be sure you do light coats so you don't get paint drips. I think they look beautiful as is though. I would recommend an acrylic sealant spray or I've even used aerosol hairspray on flowers before!

lavendar, clove, and rosemary would be good scents that can be used together. Simply add a few drops of each (essential oil) to the bag and let them stay in there a couple weeks before you make them into sachets. This gives them time to absorb the scents. Then you can add in little fabric bags, you can add them to a jar and use a piece of fabric to cover the top, or you can place in open containers and sit out on tables, or you can even fill baby socks with them and place them in drawers.

If you have mice in your house, put peppermint essential oil in the flowers, as mice and ants hate peppermint:)

I am pretty sure you can use hair spray, if I remember right if you spray it on the flower it's supposed to keep it from falling apart

Also there's a clear acrylic spray you can get that will protect the flowers

Thank you Cheryl. I will try it on some pedals first! Appreciate your input. Have a nice day!

Hi Nancy, hope this helps. A gentle burst of clear spray paint is all you need to preserve your flowers. They need to dry thoroughly after being coated with spray paint. I use bowls filled with sand to stand the stems/toothpicks in. Y

Using a can of ordinary hairspray, you simply work your way around the rose covering the petals, stem and leaves with the liquid. The hairspray holds the petals firm and prevents them from falling off while hung upside down.
