This is a nice, bright space! Frame the mirror with wood trim! Paint to match colors of new towels and valance! ...a basket of rolled washcloths is always nice too. (Put trash can next to toilet... out of sight.) On the wall --to left of toilet-- buy inexpensive canvas print at Marshalls or Home Goods to tie the space together. Good luck!

There is a $100 bathroom makeover here on hometalk. Here is a link to the hometalkers blog. Great cheap makeover you could mimic.

Thanks, Heather! Seems pretty peculiar that a message board on Hometalk won't allow you to provide a link to a Hometalkers blog!

We've been remodeling on a dime without compromise. First, have a complete plan of what you really like, how much you need, and in what order it needs to be completed. Then look for deals at building supply salvage yards, clearance shelves and craigslist. For example, we knew the exact sink we wanted and waited for clearance. We ended up getting it 75%Off because we knew exactly what we were looking for. So when it showed up on clearance we didn't have to debate about it. We've done this with almost everything and the few things we splurged on didn't break the bank.

Hello Mimi, You could use Marble wallpaper or Contact Framed on the walls, and use Small Square Mosaic Mirror Tile Trim to frame your Mirror. Remove Pelmet Valance and make a Statement with small mosaic Mirror tiles around window frame. Use strong coloured Towels and accessories too... Have fun........

Go with the "real spa" treatment (you're more than halfway there already!): Almost all white accessories: lots of towels (white), rugs (white), keep the countertop stuff to a minimum........minimalist = relaxation

Go shopping....DIYnetwork.com or HGTV.com will have lots of ideas on how to make your vanity and sink area look high end... on a budget

take a tour thru a lighting store.... some light fixtures just look more expensive... even though they may not be.... crystals... brass or oil rubbed bronze... several small pendants or several in a "cascading" group at each end of the counter.

Check with a stone yard that specializes in granite, or marble or quartz countertops

See if they have a remnant that will fit your vanity... a quartz one that LOOKS like calcutta marble would look luxurious.. but be maintenance free... and most of the remnants are sold at reduced cost

Up scale to dual sinks..... clear glass VESSEL sinks, with nice looking faucets..

Have you ever thought about an epoxy countertop. There are so many color and choices with it. This website has a video on how to do it.

You could cut another hole in the counter and put in a second sink. Then put up two mirrored medicine cabinets. I would remove the bulk head lights and put in regular lights. Put the trash can in the vanity. Get new faucets, keeping in mind that a plumbing store (either brick and mortar or online) will give you a better quality product. It may look the same, be the same brand and be called the same style as in a big box store, but the insides will not be the same. Plastic vs ceramic and brass, your choice as to how long you want it to last. Get new knobs and pulls and bath fixtures (towel bars, hand towel holder, toilet paper holder, hooks for door, etc). Install an exhaust fan. I really like mine, it has the exhaust fan, light, night light and instant heat heater. And as for the wall color, if you redo the countertop, you'll have different colors to pull from. As is, I think I would go with a blue a couple shades darker than the countertop is now. Good luck with the redo.
