How do I widen a doorway to accommodate a wheelchair?

Bathroom doorway is a tight squeeze for my daughter. We were able to open it up to about 34” but she really needs 36”. Problem: shower on left and closet on right.

Have the door swing out opposite of shower and closet
My husband was wheelchair-bound. It was a tight squeeze to get his transportation wheelchair (smaller than regular wheelchair) into the bathroom. We took off the door and that gave us about 1 1/2 inches - the width of the door and more space where ordinarily the door used space behind it when it was open...On the outside door frame we put up 'cup holders) to hold a round curtain rod with a grommet top drape. Cup holder and drapery braid held the drape open. It solved our problem.
