if you don't have a dishwasher, KRUDCUTTER for KITCHENS does a great job ... put in a shallow pan and spray both sides until totally saturated/dripping; let soak a while and rinse in HOT water with a scrub brush; Repeat if that doesn't get it -- but they're 2 for a 1.00 at the dollar stores ! Frankly cheaper to replace!
you did take it off to clean, right? once this is off, Dawn or some type like this will cut the grease. if it is heavy, you can always take it outside and leave it in a soapy bath for a few hours to cut most of the work. still believe in elbow work, and it will get clean. best of luck...
I use Dollar Tree Awesome Degreaser or the Awesome Orange for a kitchen hood in a sink with hot water, let sit 10 mins and then rinse under hot water spray.
