Build Porch Cover on the Weekend

My friend Michelle built a porch cover over the weekend. It works great and allows her grandchildren to enjoy being on her back porch even during the dog days of summer. With the shade they find it a cool place to hang out at Grandma's!
She had some corner posts with the built in holes to apply screws to bolt them down to the deck. Then she added some rods on hand to use for support of the canvas.
Now she just needed the front and back end to support the rods that will in turn support the canvas.
To her credit she found some rods with a little wave in them for decor and a straight rod at the back. Even a bed frame purchased at the local second hand store could provide the front and back support to attach to the end posts, to become the main frame.
She had a good start by the end of the first day.
She secured both ends of the rods to the main frame. Then it took 4 people to place it on the deck. It was awkward more than it was heavy. After she set it on the porch deck, she bolted it down on all 4 corners. Then she put on the canvas.
If you look closely, you can see she also added white lights around the frame for soft lights after dark. What a great place for her grandchildren to hang out! Yes, I said grandchildren. If a grandma can do this, any one of us can do it! Be inspired and show us your talents to put up a covered deck!

Hi, first I want to say that you did a great job. This gives me inspiration to maybe tackle this in the spring. Gives me time to "find" the supplies needed and the weather to improve. My questions are, What did use for the front and back rods that has "a little wave in them for decor"? Love how perfect it looks! Also what did you use for the rods that support the canvas? What size is your porch cover? Thank you
