I really don’t care for the look however I can not take it down. Is there any digestion on how to make it look better. Not sure if paint would help because the trim and bookshelves along the fireplace wall match

It is a huge task and my husband does not mind it. There is nothing but insulation (I think) behind the boards

You could paint it a light color to freshen up the area and still keep the trim the woofed if you wanted to.

Well that is a very good reason for not taking it down. I would think take some paint could make a big difference. Do you have any particular colors in mind?

Have you considered contact paper? It's really easy to put up and also easy to remove and there's so many choices of colors and designs

It removes pretty easily too if you decide you don't like it
