Paint or stain?
I have a nice 16 x 16 deck. I power washed it and was told to buy deck paint to protect it. I am very disappointed with the results. The rails are fine but the steps and deck floor have paint peels everywhere. Would stain be a better option? The paint was almost $40 a gallon and from a noted manufacturer.

Raw deck wood need something that will absorb into the grain. Paint does not do that. A good UV rated deck stain soaks into the woodgrain and protects it.
