You could turn the end of the sheet down about three inches and sew along the edge to create a pocket, then slide a curtain rod through the pocket. Once the curtain is on the rod, you can bunch it up a bit to create fullness. The shorter the rod, the fuller the curtain.
Buy more sheets. I like curtain clips and have done this in one room of my house. I have 4 twin sized sheets hung with curtain clips, I like them nice and full! You can always embellish them too.
You sew the top for a curtain rod...this provides a nice ruffle above the rod. Or make decorative pleating and use metal clips to attach to the rod. Or add ties to the top that make pretty bows. Or just sew loops to the top that hang from the rod. There's only so much you can do with sheets.
Hi Cindy. I'm Cindy too. Yes, bed sheets would be plain and straight. Some people like that. If you want to jazz them up a little bit, you could always stamp them, or use a stencil to bring in color and pattern. Or you could buy bed sheets with a design on them already. They are a good choice when it comes to price. Good luck, Cindy.
The probably would be straight curtains, or you could buy a pack of grommets. They are super easy to install! https://www.ourhomemadeeasy.com/add-grommets-to-curtain-panels/
Top sheets already have a hem at the top of the sheet which you can open at the ends, or you can cut evenly spaced slits across the hem and thread a rod through to make a gather. You can also use a canvas drop cloth if you want a heavier more substantial curtain. You can buy patterned sheets, or stencil them with fabric paint. You can dye them or tye or ice dye them to suit your taste. There are all kinds of tutorials on this site and others. Best wishes and good luck.
this photo shows sheet curtains in two rooms. In the dining room they are hung from rings, four full sized sheet curtains, two each on the joined windows, over cotton pleated curtains. In the next room it is one pair of twin sized sheets with an antique lace edging, making a flounce at the top. Sheets give the most fullness and these are cotton.
You could use fabric paint on them to do a fun design. Use painter's tape and do stripes?
