How do you get storage in a very small bathroom?

Our one and only bathroom is small and I was considering having narrow cabinets installed along one wall where the single sink vanity is located. Has anyone constructed floor to ceiling cabinets using prefab cabinets or building the cabinets with simple shelves inside?

Another option is to open up a section of wall between 2 studs and build a cabinet into the gap. Then the only thing sticking out into the room is the door.
That's a good idea. I was thinking of having cabinets built floor to ceiling that wouldn't be very deep so that the door wouldn't be an issue.
