How to update these 2 stands that my father gave to me?

I have these 2 stands that my father gave to me. I believe they are some type of sewing table. I am not quite sure. Anyway I am using them as end tables in livingroom. They are so dark and old looking. I would love to update them. Something beach inspiring!

The top opend and storage is inside.

I would do a chalk paint finish. I just painted a dining room table and the finish resembles driftwood. Started with a white base then did some dry brushing and glazing in different greys and taupes. If you go with a painted finish have glass cut to size for the tops to avoid marring the finish. There are tons of youtube tutorials on how to get the look. I am chalk painting my bedroom set next !!

I love the chalk paint idea that others suggested. On top you can lay down and attach a framed mirror. Most Dollar Stores carry them. Don't be turned off by how inexpensive they look because once it's painted either to match the rest of the piece or an accent color it changes the whole look. It's a pretty accent and great for placing your watch or cellphone for a charging station. Post photos of your final choice. Have fun with it!

Oh my goodness, the possibilities are endless! One wonderful thing about paint....if you don't like it, it's easily redone. It's hard to tell your colors in the photo, but beachy says to me, shades of aqua & blue, sandy beige, and driftwood grey. There's so much to choose from. Share your finished project! Have fun.
