How to Fight Crab Grass?
We have tried for years to eradicate the Crab Grass from our lawns. Unfortunately, nothing has worked and this year the Crab Grass seems to be doing even better than our regular lawn. Can anyone give us some ideas on getting rid of it once and for all? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hi Lina, amazing isn't it? That stuff is really hardy. Instead of just attempting to get rid of the grass, look into making your lawn healthier. Contact your local agricultural extension service for a list of things you can do to increase the growth and spreading of your lawn so it will eventually choke out the crab grass. They'll also have suggestions for the crab grass. Good luck!
I had exactly the same problem. It was so bad, this spring I ripped out the entire back yard and started over. I used fescue and clover. Clover chokes out all other weeds, is drought tolerant once established, fun to roll around in and I have a lot of pets! Here are some options for you!

Clean your lawnmower every time you mow, that helps a lot!
Thank you BIJ. I have just learned that the rhizomes can extend 6' to 8' deep. I just don't like the look of the spears and wanted to get rid of them. I guess there is no one and done. lol
