What zone are you in? And does it get full sun, part sun, shade?

If it is possible to run a soaker hose around to the side yard, you would be able to spruce it up with plants to your hearts content and water it without logging water to keep it healthy. Use a regular hose until you get to the plantings, then run the soaker hose. You can do other landscaping using rock or wood mulch to keep the rest of the area nice without having lawn to take care of in the area. What plants you use depends on the lighting and what zone you are in. You could use just plants, just shrubs or a combination. I hope this helps you get your side yard looking nice!

Hi, make one centerpiece in plants and flowers that will survive on the side of the house. Then use pavers with stone all around. That will quite a statement small side yard and easy to maintain. Ifi the side yard is larger, add additional smaller containers and larger spaces between your pavers for more stones.
