Coffee grounds are great for composting and adding to your garden bed along with egg shells and this link has even more ideas that I was not aware of that I will try.. especially absorbing food odors...

Mix them within the soil if you have flower or veggie beds. They can also be used to detour ants.
Sprinkle lightly in your garden to keep squirrels from digging in the garden and pots.. I saw this hint earlier this year and am doing it - Yes, it works.
