What to instal in place of vertical blinds?

I have some cheap vertical blinds installed in my street-side windows. The blinds are very fragile, and every time I touch them some panels will fall down. I would like to replace the blinds with something really simple and cat-friendly. What would you recommend?

Shutters would look really cute in that little nook! You can always do curtains as well. Black out curtains sometimes work better than blinds. But we like the idea of letting in the light so a light colored curtain will really open up the space as well as blocking out some of the light.

Maybe purchase some thick fabric of your liking, but make sure long enuf, cut strips, at to sew in a thin metal/wood/plastic strip to hang by, copy the original hole so it will hang proper, n get some little thin square metal pieces to sew I bottom of each so they hang strait!!??

  • I am a big fan of double rods and curtain clips. Sheers underneath and pretty curtains. With pets, make sure they are easily machine washable. Lousy photo, but you get the idea.

My only suggestion is new ones from Lowe's. Pretty affordable. I use the same header and just popped new ones on. If you want to switch to white then just remove cover piece for more modern look. Or cover piece with any decorative napkin/wrap paper and midge podge....

I agree with Flo. Verticals are most cat friendly IMO. The slats can be purchased in replacement packs that just pop in to the old clips. A five minute job
