Hi Debbie, Here's a link for your aluminum siding: https://www.todayshomeowner.com/how-to-paint-aluminum-siding/
And here's a link for awnings: https://www.doityourself.com/stry/spray-painting-aluminum-awnings
Good luck!
You probably have aluminum siding which will require a metal primer and then a good paint to cover. Clean the siding well before starting to remove the chalky film and do the same with your awnings. You may have to use a car wash brush to help clean but it will give you a much better job if the surface is cleaned properly. There are siding cleaners available.
Hi, I like the green and it's looks in really good shape. I'd give it a good cleaning with a house cleaner formulated for aluminum and let dry. Use an outdoor aluminum primer and a good paint that will adhere to aluminum. For the awnings, again clean, sand and paint. Good luck.
Or rent a Power spray washer
Take this photo to the paint pros at your home improvement store. They will show you the best materials and paints to use as well as any tools you may want to rent (so you save money...instead of buying the tools). The best advice and One Stop Shopping!
Power wash 1st is essential
If any of the metal is steel prime that portion with a primer intended for treating rust, (that would not be rustoleum, which is to revent rust.
After that the paint choice should be selected based on the sheen you want to have on the house -Higher sheens last longer, lower sheen levels hide defects.
You can paint the aluminum without priming if you use the correct paint type.
The paint will go far on the metal, because the surface does not absorb paint so the paint film is thinner. I do not recommend you spray this paint, use a low nap roller and a brush- it will look more like wood if you brush horizontally
So don't use a cheap paint. It need to be the best quality you can afford or you will be repeating the process in a short time. Wait for a paint sale if you want to save $$
Before you paint, use a power washer and JoMax. You can rent the power washer. Use on low setting. Our place is 20 years old and looks brand new after washing. We were amazed. You should do this even if you want to paint. Paint will adhere better.
Yikes! I’d never paint that siding. The color is nice. How about a power wash and see how pretty it looks clean?
I’d remove those awnings altogether.
