Storage and craft areas- any ideas?

We live in a rental, but I want an easy way to make combination craft storage with a Murphy style bed for guests in our spare bedroom. Then I want to make an area in the living room into a art area for painting, sewing, jewelry making, and pottery. It has to be low cost.

It needs to be moveable in case we have to move some day. Any ideas to make my dreams come true?

I’m thinking you can use one of those fold up tables. I have several and I use them for all kinds of things...like a ’kids table’ at holidays. As far as your materials go, check out the crafts stores. I was able to buy a crate on wheels for relatively little money.

For the living area, purchase two 2-drawer file cabinets for storage (picture frames added to the front drawers give them a chic look). Place a plywood or 2 wide board over the tops leaving a space for your legs so you can sit to work. Wrap a plastic table cloth over the top. Place bins or baskets on top at the back to hold supplies.

If it is possible to make the murphy bed level over bookcases laid on there sides, then you can have baskets of storage placed on the side turned bookcases.

I would use a hutch or large cabinet and fill it with bins or baskets with labels for all the craft supplies. You can also use a large shelving unit and fill it with bins. You can use a large dining type table for your smaller craft space. Have fun!
