How to design a Pea gravel flower bed?

I want to design a bed or 2 in our big yard around several big trees. I would like a few easy to take care of plants and maybe add a pretty chair or 2. Any ideas on how to design it around the base of trees? This can be big bed.

The first step is to lay down landscaping fabric and trim it to size. Then comes the pea gravel. I would make a border of rocks, perhaps painted white. You may have already done so, but check out the price of pea gravel...it is very expensive.
Hello Julie, Use an old hose to outline the shape of the beds you want to make. Then Cut around with an Edger. Remove the soil and lay a WEED SUPPRESSING MEMBRANE.
Then lay the Shingle. Site your Bench and add some large Pots of Plants.
