I want to paint my old kitchen cabinets. I don't know how to do it.

They are old wooden cabinets, water-based paint on them, but they look really shabby. I would like to do it without removing the doors. Is this possible?

I cleaned, primed and painted mine white. I would remove the doors and all hardware. Just makes the finish look better. That is easy to do. Then buy new handles and knobs !

It is possible, but your hinges will probably pay the price. Taking doors down is very easy to do, and will take less time than masking them off. One word of caution though...if you do take them down, be very careful when you put them back up because the screws are small, and easy to strip out.

To get a neat finish it's always best to remove the doors first. I understand that you're hesitant to do it though. Your biggest problem will be the hinges, but those can be taped off with masking tape before you paint the cabinets by hand. Best of luck Dorothy
