Problem with outdoor landscaping

Boiling water or vinegar will take care of the weeds. Water the grass regularly and reseed bald patches. You can reseal the driveway yourself, any home improvement center or hardware store will have what you need, or hire out.

Unless you particularly like lawns, perhaps consider cutting out the bad patch in the lawn and making a flower border. Or, if you only want to mess with it once, plant something like a cotoneaster which has a low ground spreading form, with berries for the birds, or a juniper. That would add interest to your yard, get rid of the patches and less mowing.
