How to make the paint stick on hypertufa pots?

I am making hypertufa pots (towel and cement), how do i prevent the paint (am using spray paint) from coming off?

The point of hypertufa pots in that they are porous, allowing air flow for the plant's roots, like terracotta does. If you apply spray paint, or any paint AFTER you make the pot, you will clog it up and prevent that. What about adding a colorant/paint into the mix, thereby coloring the pots without clogging the holes?
