I heard a farmer explain that the rain water has plenty of oxygen, and the water loses it while it sits underground. That probably happens in tanks as well. I live in Central California, where most of our water comes from underground, so when it rains, the plants perk up beautifully!

RAin water does not contain the chlorine found in most faucet water. If you let faucet water set over night and only use the top 2/3 of it, you can avoid most the chlorine though. My grandma taught me that.

Rainwater contains more nitrogen than ground water, which helps plant leaf development. It also lacks the junk in common city tap water - chlorine, fluoride.

It holds nitrogen, Rain water has a neutral pH. It's softer than tap water and penetrates into the ground deeper.
