Would like to make cosmetic changes to an outdated master bath in a mobile home (late 70's, early 80's). I'd like to do a coastal theme - definitely change wallpaper & vinyl - simple treatment around the mirror & the mirrors around the tub have GOT to go! Thanks so much!

Do you plan to paint the walls, or put up new wallpaper? Also, if the vinyl floor is in good shape and level you could consider peel & stick tiles in a new color/pattern. Sounds like a fun project, hope you post some pictures as you do it!

Probably new wallpaper - the bathroom is very "open" & would work. Vinyl needs to go, am looking at tiles & full sheets now. Thanks so much - I will do "before, during & after" photos!

Hi Cheryl:) Painting will make a huge difference in the room. If you are changing out the vinyl floor, instead of ripping it up, you could look at getting floating wood flooring that goes right over it and will give a rustic, beachy feel. You can paint your vanity, too. Here are some good links with recent trends in colors for beach houses:

I would start by collecting several photos of bathrooms that you like and see what features are that you are attracted to. Make sure you think about function and what major items are needed to achieve this. Then design your dream bath on paper and make a list of every task needed to complete it and price out each step. Focus on color, texture, fixtures, and accessories. Take your time on the planning end and do the rehab in stages. If you keep the major fixtures and wall color neutral, you can always change out the accessories as the seasons or your taste changes.

Hi Cheryl. I'm Cindy. I think the most affordable way to change decor is with paint. Be sure to purchase paint that is made specifically for bathrooms. Same for wallpaper. I like the idea of laying a new floor right over the existing floor. We put peel-and-stick tiles over old tiles 2 yrs ago, and it still looks great. Best of luck to you.

Why not just some blue paint with white trim? Decorate mirrors with wrapped rope, a nautical themed shower curtain with complimenting towels, a driftwood waste basket, sea shell shaped liquid soap dispenser, beach comber bath rug, beach themed toothbrush holder, etc.

I think you received some good answers so I won't duplicate them. I just want to remind you that dollar stores often have some cute accessories that you could pick up cheaply. I went nautical in my bath and ordered some "clings" for my light blue walls...lighthouse, boats, shells, sea gulls, etc. Have fun!
