It depends on where you live. I suggest that you go to your local plant nursery to see what they keep in stock. Local nurseries will always have plants that grow best in your area. Remember, their object as a business is to make a profit so it makes sense that they would have plants that grow well in your area. Let then know what type of plant you're looking for - ground cover that grows in shady areas - and I'm sure they'll be able to help you. Another option is to contact the Cooperative Extension Service for your state. They are a government service and also can help you figure what will work best. Wishing you the best.
