    Hello Chelsea,

Downsizing several times Ive learned to maximize all available storage options. Im also cursed with the lack of storage closets too.

In the kitchen maximize cupboard storage utilizing various storage bins baskets and elevating wire racks in all cabinets above and below countertops. You might consider using the backside of the cabinet door too. Purge the things you dont need or store other things that you don’t use often in another area of the house....like under the bed, garage or basement closet. Put you beds on risers and use low profile totes and spacebags under the beds. Switch out summer and winter wardrobes. Some people use storage Ottomans or trunks as coffetables to hide extra items as well. Lastly the beds with drawers below the mattress are options too. I hope this helps some, its quite a challenge for me as well!

Hi Chelsea! I recommend double duty furniture whenever possible. I keep out-of-season clothes in my suitcases. I contain the clutter that tends to accumulate on surfaces in bins and baskets. I store things under the bed. Going vertical gets stuff up off the floor. Hooks or Command hooks are great.

At one point I was between homes and the absolute worst case scenario with absolutely NO ROOM I ended up using the trunk of my car for long term storage for the clothes and jackets I didn't need at the time. It seemed rather silly but I look back and realize it helped a lot. I put it all in vacuum sealed bags so they were like brand new when I unpacked them. I also only kept on hand two pairs of shoes, the rest went in my trunk too.

Really we don't need near as much as we have and figuring out a place to put things we don't need on a day to day basis will help a lot. The suggestion above for lifting beds higher and utilizing the storage beneath them is a REALLY good idea.

They make hangers designed to be able to hang a dozen or so shirts on them from top to bottom to utilize closet space. Most closets only have one rod, you can add another rod much closer to the floor and literally double your hanging space.

High storage is something most people don't consider. A friend of mine in an apartment ran a shelf around her entire bedroom about a foot and a half from the ceiling. It wasn't pretty but it gave her a TON of storage.
