Make your own backsplash

I am thinking about designing a small bathroom backsplash using colored glass. The glass pieces have been processed so the edges are rounded and the glass is actually frosted vs. clear glass. I am using green and clear frosted pieces. Will use a mosaic style design. I have some plastic grid backing that I intended to glue the pieces on for the design, then will use mastic to adhere to wall, then grout. Any pointers? I have never done this before so any info will be appreciated.

Thank you Paula. They are using a heavier stone and suggest using a glue gun to adhere to the wall. The finished project looks nice. I would like to go the old fashioned mastic/grout route. Was hoping to get some mosaic tile designs people have done on their own. The glass pieces I have are multi shaped.
