You could buy a precut circle of wood at your local lumber yard - I found one just less than 18" at Home Depot for $6.22, recently. I bought it for a future project. Or, if you are handy cutting wood, you could cut it yourself. I'm planning on putting legs on mine, but, I think your base would look great after removing the upholstery.
Oh yes, it looks as though you can cut away the sushioning? I’ve seen round table tops at Home Depot, fairly inexpensive and ready to stain
You could put a lazy Susan on top of it and use it as a server for appetizers, or maybe take the top off and turn it into a coat rack using a thick dowel rod and some thinner ones arranged perpendicularly to hang jackets and hats.
Hello Mickie, Now, if it were mine (I like it as it is) I would not damage it, but if I wanted a table, I would make an encasing box underneath the table top and slip it over the stool seat! I would secure by fixing timber straps of wood scewed into top to stop it coming off. Therefore I would still have the stool should i want it again........... Good luck in whatever you decide to do..
Hello Mickie, there has been quite a few side tables with them. Heres a link that maight be helpful.
