To add to above answer.. you could drill holes into the wood top smaller than your typical glass or bottle/cans so that your drinks stay slightly elevated but are secure.
You could probably use the wire in your tomato cage to twist and turn into wine glass holder yard stakes and would work for cans and other glasses too similar to the multi-color ones in pic. Spray painting them would add a pop and make them more visible - maybe glow in the dark paint for night parties
