Out deck is too small and too sunny to enjoy.

The deck is very high. It is screened and has shades. A fire place takes one end. The ceiling is two stories high. We would have a view of the mountains but are unable to enjoy. I am looking for a way to shade it and arrange furniture for conversation. Would appreciate any ideas.

I don't know what kind of blinds you have, but the window film transparent ones offer UV protection while allowing you to see your view.... https://northsolarscreen.com/indoor-shades/economical-crystal-view/

You could buy bamboo shades at Home Depot or lowes, or make your own curtains from drop cloths. The drop cloths are hemmed on all 4 sides so no sewing, homedepot.com/outdoor-curtains-pipe-drop-cloth/

Shade sails mounted at angles, beneath the ceiling, or retractible awning . Are your shades designed for bright sun? You can purchase screens and shades for this purpose.

  • Define "very high" in feet, 6 feet, 12 feet? How about installing metal pipes as curtain rods and hang drop cloths or any lengths of fabric to coordinate with your decor? Use curtain clips so the curtains are easy to put up and take down when they require laundering. Also sew or velcro a channel at the bottom and insert a pvc pipe to keep from billowing in the breeze.
