This is more of a dilemma that I have been wondering about.

I have a dehumidifier running next to a small refrigerator. Could they be affecting each other. I seem to have to empty the water daily on the dehumidifier and don't feel the fridge is very cold at highest setting. Should I move them away from each other or no correlation? Thanks much.

  • Should have no correlation, but you never know! Here is what I surmise. Are they both plugged into the same outlet? If so, my guess would be that the dehumidifier is working overtime to do its job and sucking all the power. Try separating them and see what happens. Do a troubleshoot check on the fridge.

If, in fact, this solves the problem, next time you have a licensed electrician in, have him check the outlet for any potential mis or faulty wiring.

I know I am missing something here, I must need to eat. Hopefully another Hometalker can add to this . . . At least this is a start for you!

If it is hot and humid in your area in the summer it is not unreasonable to have to empty the dehumidifier daily. Sometimes I need to do it twice a day. It will also depend on how much water your dehumidifier holds. Mine is a 45 pint--and I have 2 that I run in my basement--and I empty them daily. If you have a smaller pint dehumidifier you would more than likely have to empty it daily in humid weather.
