How to paint over paneling

    First clean the paneling really well. Then lightly sand the paneling. Should only take a few minutes. You just want to sand it enough for the primer to stick. Buy a good hiding, gripping primer, Zinser or Kilz are good. If you have a paint sprayer it will be easier and no roller or brush marks. After priming sand lightly again, then clean once again. A swifter works really well. Paint with a good acrylic paint. If using a sprayer thin light coats. If using a roller use a mohair or door paneling roller. If using a brush get a good one like Purdy.

    We used dry wall putty to fill the cracks. After sanding this down we painted over it and it looked real nice. If you want a smoother wall is recommend using two coats of the putty. We didn't. I Wanted just a little definition in the wall. See attached photo...
