  • Hose or drippers at the base so the ground is wet, not the leaves.

The best way to water your garden is to use a soaker hose.

I always water at the base with a sprinkler in the fan position. I prop it up with an old ceramic vase that the bottom fell out. Put it on low and leave it for about 20 mins or so then move to the next spot. A slow deep watering is best for your garden.

We did something different this year. Drilled hole in a piece of PVC and buried that (about 2 feet under the dirt). Just take a hose and put it in the pipe. The water goes to the roots and is not wasted or evaporated due to watering from above. Use a lot less water and the plants seem to love this.

I use a soaker hose every morning for 20 - 30 minutes. This allows me to water the soil (and roots) and not the leafs. I started watering with a soaker hose two years ago and it has made a remarkable difference in my harvests.
