Hello Carolyn, Try using a Stainless Steel Cleaner.........or Barkeepers Friend.

i put mine in the dishwasher and they look brand new. they are 25 years old! if they have caked on grease i put easy off oven cleaner on them and let them sit for a while. it will not hurt then at all. hope this helped. oh, i just started to put them in dishwasher a couple months ago...allot less work and expense.
