My yard is a combination of green, yellow, and brown. I cut it to a 3 inch height once a week, but my neighbor does the same but his is an inch in height and green. Should i lower the blades or put some kind of chemical on it, and if i do lower my wheels will it make the yellow and brown areas worse. ty

Your yard may have a fungal infection, or could be the result of grubs or thatch. Take a photo and send it to your county extension agent (usually associated with universities), where Master gardeners will assist you with free information. Do not cut the grass lower in this heat. Your neighbor may have zoyzia grass which better tolerates Summer. Kentucky blue blends cannot take this heat and drought, unless you're willing to have a significant water bill. These grasses recover in cooler weather.
