What kind of ants- sweet seeking, Carpenter, Fire, etc.? You could call your local hardware store for advice best suited to yourvlocale.

  • This is the most effective method that we use and it works really well. Good luck! Hugs, Holly

    Hi Wmc,

If they are outside ants of any sort, in hills, swarming over your plants, and evemutually coming inside, what you can do is get some jiffy cornbread mix. Use it unbaked and sprinkle it around where they are outside, they take it back to the colony and it is eliminated. I sprinkle it by the outside wall where they are entering as well, usually the kitchen.

If you want to treat inside a product called Terro, available a DIY stores works well.

    Hi

I have had good results using diatomaceous earth (DE) and use on ant hills. It is natural and it affects their exoskeleton and will get rid of them. , cover the area 1 foot diameter around the hills. It is best if you take a stick and stir up the bed and sprinkle over as many as possible and maybe get the queen ant.

You can sprinkle on baseboards inside home too. make sure it is food grade and it can be used inside house by dusting crevices etc ( I purchased a duster to direct a stream at the baseboards..where they are. It also works on nasty palmetto bugs aka roaches and other pests and can be used in garden for aphids

You can can purchase locally at Walmart, Lowe’s, Home Depot or garden center.
