I live in a condo and neighbors smoke on balcony. Smoke blows my way. How do I block/reduce smoke smell when I am out on my balcony?

Hi Claire, You can light some tall candles around the perimeter of you balcony. Make sure their in glass, their less likely to blow out.

is there some way to put a large potted plant ( large palm from walmart, etc) at the edge of your balcony between you? Another way is a trellis in a large pot with vines on it between you.

About the only thing I can think of is to get a box fan and turn it on in their direction. This fan will also keep away bugs.

A larger fan, to direct the smoke away from you.

Buy a standing fan and blow it back their way. It will also keep you cool and keep insects off of you.

  • Get a fan! I have patio fans for flying bugs, will work for smoke too.

Fans facing in the direction from where the smoke is coming from and somewhat near where you sit. The rotating kind would likely be best. Or, grow tall, vine growing plants. Once thick and tall they will certainly block the smoke. Grow in large pots and if you live in a wintry area bring them in after cutting them back. I do suggest you set these pots on a platform with wheels or have a friend build planters large enough for your needs. They will need drain holes and a plastic liner if made of wood. If using the last method you should be able to grow climbing roses, tomato's, honeysuckle, morning glory's {which you'd have to plant each year}, and lot's of other choices.
