What is better on heat and chemicals....granite, quartz.... with good

    Hello Gaa....your sentence was cut off. For kitchen counter tops, granite is the hardest surface for heat and cleaning. Marble is beautiful, but can stain easily and will show wear in time. Quartz is excellent, but it still does not top granite.

    I assume you are talking about countertops. All stone will handle heat except for exceptionally high temperatures (you might want a buffer if your pan is 400 degrees or higher). Chemicals are not advised, as they may etch or cause the counter top to deteriorate more quickly. Because stone is a natural element, it is porous (as is wood) and you can never be sure it is completely sanitary unless it is well sealed with a food-safe sealant, which will need to be kept updated. That is why I did not choose it for my kitchen.
