Small front yard. Help

I am old gal on fixed income, yard has horrible grass with tons of burs. I can not mow myself and can not afford a gardener, Wish could afford fake grass but can not. Any ideas what I can do so my front yard is not the eyesore on the block, with little upkeep.

Xeriscape! Or make it a rock garden. Or cover in mulch with a few large potted plants.

You could use cardboard or news paper to cover grass and on top place rocks then add a border using old dinner plates or even bottles
