I am going to put new sod in my backyard. The soil is very sandy and will add amendments for this. Is there anyway to kill existing weed seeds in the soil before I put down the new lawn?

Thank You!

If you "google" natural weed killers you may find something suitable. I tend to buy a weed killer that only kills surface weeds and does not poison the soil. It is very worthwhile killing the weeds before sow need seed. Good luck Gary!

You can also till the weeds up and leave them unearthed for a few days, they will die once tilled up and should be easy to remove with a garden rake. We've always done this in our veggie garden and grow our veggies on raised mounds. At the first sight of a weed, we take the hoe and make sure to unearth it, which is really easy on mounds.
