Can I cut back my shasta daisies? Will they grow new flowers?

I have a garden with Shasta daisies, they grow to about 2 and a half feet tall and then droup over. If I cut them back to about a foot will they grow new flowers? And is that the suggested thing to do or do you have any suggestions? Thank you
