How to repair laminated built in dresser?

how can you change the look of a laminated built in dresser as far as painting? It's made of press board and some of the drawers is brittle. how would you repair it or is it best to just build new drawers and how hard is it to do or can just the front parts of drawers be refaced?

It may be throwing good money after bad to try and repair something that isn't made of good quality materials. You could keep it as a "place-holder" while you search thrift stores, garage sales, flea markets, etc. for a finished dresser that you could slide into its recess (be sure to keep the measurements with you coz you never know when a bargain might turn up!). Consider dressers that might have removable parts, like feet or carved tops that could be removed or cut down to fit it into place. If you can't stand the look of it, then give it a quick coat of your favorite color or collage it, cover it with contact paper, etc. But anything more, like repairing drawers, etc., wouldn't be worth it in my opinion.
