Can a bookcase headboard be cut down to hang on the wall?

Our bedroom furniture was bought for our old house, which had a larger bedroom. Now we're just crowded and I don't want to get rid of the headboard, just do something different with it.

Hi Dolly. I don't see why not, I think that's a great idea! People repurpose headboards into all kinds of stuff. I have even seen people who add shelves to their headboards to create wall shelving, and yours will already have the shelving built in.

I once had a waterbed headboard hanging from my bedroom wall and underneath i mounted a rod to use for hanging clothes. I put a curtain in front of the clothes, put a tv, pictures etc. on the shelves above and it served its purpose in a small room with no storage

Thanks for the input. I'm still thinking. I knew I would have to find studs to hang it. I'm just not sure how to cut it. Maybe my son can help with that.

Hi Dolly. I'm Cindy. Yes. I think you could hang your bookcase headboard on a different wall. They are pretty heavy so be sure to use the studs inside the wall to anchor it. Best of luck to you.

Sure. I think that would be a smart ironic use for the headboard. And if you don’t have room in your bedroom, think of all the other rooms and how you could use it, even in your pantry, bathroom, back porch and front porch. Just give it a couple of coats of paint and your friends will be guessing where you got it. Have fun and be safe, Dolly. ☺️
