Do you want natural or manufactured stairs? For natural stairs, dig out the dirt for form steps that are 6-8" high and as deep as needed to fit your slope. Secure the edge of each step with landscape logs, stone, or poured cement.
You have to use a shovel and level the ground for each step. You will have to remove sod and you may have to fill in under some steps. If it is a steep area, make a railing to hold onto. You can make this out of plumbing pipe using connecting pieces and set the posts in concrete!
