Lovely Lavender Lingerie Chest

A lingerie chest is a great piece of furniture to have especially when you have limited space. It gives you multiple drawers and takes up less space due to its tall and thin stature. Here's a random fun fact - apparently, they were originally made with 7 drawers for the 7 days of the week to hold a ladies panties and things.

This lingerie chest came with great subtle curves but dated hardware. At first glance it looks like all wood but it is in fact made of a combo with MDF. That's ok, we can work with this.

I think it will look great in a soft lavender. I chose a light gray, white and purple paint. I have tried many types of paint and you can find great color options online HERE.

The hardware is removed from the lingerie chest and it is prepped with a light sanding and cleaning. Next, a thin base layer of white paint is applied. Followed by layering the other colors of gray and purple until a powdery soft finish is achieved.

The original hardware is replaced with updated silver handles down below.

And clear knobs up top.

So much prettier in its new finish. If you like this makeover you can find a much more detailed tutorial of a layered lingerie chest on my blog here: How to Paint Layers on a Tall Lingerie Chest

I love it! But why buy 3 different colors of paints , when you can achieve this look with just buying a stain in that color ? So you only need to buy 1 instead of 3 and will be way cheaper and less work?

Doesn’t painting it decrease it value ?

Nice upcycle! Thanks so much for the 'fun fact' about the 7 drawers - I had a lingerie chest growing up (and then upcycled the entire bedroom set for my own daughter 30 years later!) and it has 7 drawers. Now I know why!
