When do I lay the tops of the green onions down to get bigger bottom?

    Many gardeners don’t go through this step. But if you wish to have bigger bottoms and smaller tops, when the tips of the leaves start turning brown, and the dried bottom leaves are thin enough to be translucent, it’s time. Cut off the tops about one inch above the onion. Keep the onions watered, and pull them in a week or two. If you cut them after cold weather starts, cut the leaves five inches above the onion, but don’t wait until they are frozen to pull the onions, or they will be mushy. Best wishes, Eldonna! ☺️
