I like using African Violet Pots. The top pot is not glazed on the bottom so when you set it into the bottom pot of water it keeps itself watered. You just have to remember to keep the bottom filled with water.
I grow violet. I put mine in morning sun. .when watering sit in a dish so the violet can suck up the water. .I just keep mine in a dish all the time or plastic container. .after they bloom carefully cut off old blooms .I feed mine miracle grow. . They are not a easy plant to grow mine requires attention . Happy violet day. .
I have a question? I’m repotting my African violets and taking off a bunch of leaves. Do you know if I can store the extra leaves in plastic ziplock bag and store in refrig so to can give to my best friend I will see in 1.5 weeks?
African violets grow best in slightly acidic soil with a pH between 6.4 and 6.9 with high organic matter. The mixture should consist of equal parts perlite, vermiculite and sphagnum. The soil must be well drained. Iris care and companion plants won't do without light. Rotate the pot regularly so that the flower can receive light from all directions. They need at least 8 hours of light a day, including artificial. Shallow pots are best because they provide good drainage and aeration of the roots. If you plan on planting more African violets together, give them enough space so that they do not touch each other. Water African and Irish violets with lukewarm water or water that has thawed for at least 48 hours. The soil should be slightly moist and dry around the roots before watering again. Water only at the base to avoid wetting the leaves
