When building my small greenhouse, I wanted the door to be something a bit unique. I decided to use a large picture/piece of art I had found at Goodwill years ago (I often "shop" my home to find items I can use for projects before buying supplies).

The results were exactly what I had hoped!

I am a collector of old and vintage things. I have had this pile of hinges hanging around my workshop for quite some time. You never know when you need a cool hinge (or 3)! Two of these awesome pieces came in quite handy for this particular project!

First, I aligned and measured where the hinges should be on the frame of the greenhouse. Make sure they are securely screwed in and flush.

Next, with the help of an extra pair of hands to hold the picture, I attached the hinges to the front of the picture.

Adding a simple metal hook and eye fastener, I ensured that the door would stay closed and latched.

Using garage door seal was an easy (and inexpensive) way to seal the space around the picture and the frame to keep the heat of the greenhouse in.

I attached the rubber garage seal along the inside edge of the greenhouse frame using a staple gun.

The final result is an awesomely unique twist for my DIY greenhouse!

I'm always coming up with something and I would love for you to join along!

What I love about this particular upcycle, is that the same method can be applied in other projects. A favorite framed picture or unique piece of art can easily become a "new" door on your laundry chute, kitchen and bathroom cabinets or even your entertainment center just by adding a few hinges!
